Public Information Center
The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) is committed to developing transportation improvements that balance transportation needs, safety, the environment, community concerns, and cost. NJDOT will hold a Virtual Public Information Center (PIC) to provide local residents and businesses with information on the Route 206 NB & SB Bridges over Crosswicks Creek project in Bordentown Township, Burlington County and Hamilton Township, Mercer County. You are encouraged to actively participate by providing comments by mail, by emailing Route206BridgesProject@gmail.com, or the comment form on this website.
The PIC will be held virtually. Please visit this website between January 21, 2026 and February 4, 2026 to learn more about the project and provide comments.

Project Details
The project consists of a Concept Development Study intended to remove the Route 206 bridges over Crosswicks Creek from the structurally deficient category and extend their functional service life. Existing conditions include poor deck conditions on both bridges, deterioration of concrete-encased steel superstructures, exposed and corroded reinforcement, and aging substructures approaching the end of their useful life. While the bridges continue to carry critical regional traffic and utilities, their current condition presents ongoing maintenance challenges and safety concerns.
Project goals include implementing a cost-effective solution, improving safety, eliminating structural deficiency designations, extending the service life of the structures, and minimizing traffic disruptions during construction. To address these conditions, the Preferred Preliminary Alternative (PPA) is proposed as follows:
Two Span Prestressed Concrete Bulb Tee Beams
Two (2) 12’-0” travel lanes in each direction
Outside shoulders: 10’-0” wide
Inside shoulders: 5’-0” wide (NB); 8’-2¼” wide (SB)
Pedestrian separation barrier along both sidewalks
Sidewalks: 10’-0” wide in each direction
2’-0” parapet with railing along the outside edge of sidewalks (required for staging)
Overbuilds required to accommodate construction staging
Two-span prestressed concrete bulb-tee bridge configuration (2 × 75-foot spans)
The PPA addresses existing structural deficiencies by extending service life while maintaining traffic operations and minimizing construction impacts.
Concept Development: Anticipated Completion Early 2026
